After a hurricane passes through Puerto Rico, a girl and her brother, Antonio, discover that the roof has blown off their home. A blue tarp will serve as a temporary replacement.
Under their new roof, Antonio stops speaking altogether. Still, the siblings remain close, and the blue tarp ignites their imagination. Some days it becomes their parachute. At night, they track shadows across it, imagining birds flying overhead. Other times, the tarp is the deep blue sea, where they search for sunken treasure.
All the while Antonio's sister is determined to help her brother find his voice--and hear his stories once again.
