Lulu MacBeale
4.60/5 (9 ratings)

New! A fanciful bedtime story with a lighthearted touch that deals with gaining confidence in new situations and appreciating the value of diverse friendships.  (For children 3 - 8 years old.)
A small nautilus goes alone to the ocean surface to meet new friends. There he encounters two air-breathing creatures, a sea turtle and a whale. When the whale tells him they can never be friends, the nautilus gains some helpful advice from fish nearby. Suddenly, a dangerous tigerfish enters the story but the little nautilus is saved by the whale. By this unselfish act, the nautilus realizes they will be friends forever. Lively, easy-to-read verse makes this tale one your children will cherish. Complete with colorful illustration, it is also a story that any young child can enjoy.
This book shows children how to have confidence in new situations and how to make friends with others who may be different from them. They will see that they needn’t be afraid in situations or locations with which they are unfamiliar.   BONUS: A nine-page coloring section of the characters is featured in the paperback edition only.

Synopsis:      Under the sea, Nelson the nautilus is off to visit the ocean’s surface. He wishes to see the sun and perhaps meet new friends. Even though his buddy, Craig the crayfish is too afraid to go with him, he ventures onward and meets a sea turtle and a rather large whale. Delighted to have encountered such interesting creatures, he asks the whale if he can hang out with him. The whale dismisses him and says that they can never be friends. Disappointed, he gets some advice from fish nearby and doesn’t notice that a dangerous tigerfish has been approaching. Just when things are about to get really bad, Wilbert Whale saves him from the tigerfish. From this unselfish act, Nelson realizes that he and Wilbert will be friends forever!
