For seven years, Glenn enjoys life as a wealthy expat before everything changes and he is pulled into a maelstrom of intrigue and danger when he is pressured by two mysterious American agents to carry out an illegal and dangerous act: kidnapping a Russian gangster. Glenn recruits three of his friends from the mysterious NJA Club to assist him: Sleepy Joe, an old hippie who is full of surprises; the gregarious and cynical Oliver, an Australian a purveyor of information; and Rhode Island Joe, who seems like an oaf until you get to know him.
The plot revolves around Glenn’s struggle to understand his changing world he and the need to adapt to this dangerous environment. He draws upon the skills he possessed as criminal lawyer in America, a life he thought he had abandoned. As the novel progresses, he is forced to confront danger, corruption, and an emotional roller coaster. Glenn grows into a wiser, more street savvy and chastened man, whose flaws and virtues have emerge from a lengthy slumber.
