"Paper or Plastic?" came about because of a discussion in the Baenbar chat room on AOL. A bunch of authors, wannabes, fanboys, and people who just like our weird company hang out there in the evenings. The point was made you don't see certain everyday scenes in science fiction. It is more common to see the control room of a space ship - sure. But how often do you have say a grocery store? So it was a challenge.
